The "Question Box"

Senior Girls Group
For one hour in the evening, four times a week, I meet with four different groups of children to have a Bible study, play games, do activities or crafts, or just talk.  Each group is divided up between boys and girls and their age.  So each night has a different atmosphere, but I am enjoying it.  I meet in their hostel room or dormitory, bring my own lesson and get to really know the children.  It's so interesting to hear and discuss the issues faced or dealt with in another culture.  With my senior girls group, I have a "Question Box."  This is a box where each girl has the opportunity to anonymously write down any question they may have and place it in the box.  During the last five minutes of each of our sessions, we will read a question and discuss as a group.  No question is off limit!  This past week, the question was "how do you know if you are in love or lust?"  Whew!  I have to really be sure that I am prayed up for these meetings.  Between the silence in the room while I responded and their persistent requests to read another question, I think I can say they really like this "Question Box" idea.  One thing is for sure, no matter how different the culture or traditions, at the end of the day, girls (black, white, red, brown, Christian, Hindu or Muslim) will still be girls.

    1. Girrrll!! lol...I mean dang. Can I get a warm-up question first?!...lol. I mainly talked about the importance of time and how that will show the truth, difficult/hardtimes or unattractive moments will help reveal the truth, and considering the observations of those who are close to you and are wise and mature and can often times see what our lustful eyes do not. What would you have said????

    2. A warm up question would've been nice...lol...I mean...they jumped right to it. What would I have said...hummm...I would've stated with defining love and lust, as there is a huge difference. For love I would have used I Corinthians...love is patient (asking the ladies if the feeling that they have lasting), kind, not boastful...going through each of those and asking them to reflect on their feelings and evaluating if it lines up with love or lust...right now...gotta have it...looks...etc...reason number 4567 for staying prayed up...LOL

  2. Woah, they got you with a biggun right out the gate. Yes indeed pray pray pray! That is so hard, I don't even know where to begin. No matter what take your time, don't rush into anything. You may feel like its love in your heart, but ask yourself why you feel that way, why do you love that person. Then look at the reasons you give. If its cuz he's cute or he buys me gifts etc then not likely love. Really evaluate it. Ask God, pray about it.

    Proverbs 6:25 NIV

Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes.

    1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

  3. LOVE it. I've done the anonymous question in girls groups but I never even considered that it would be the same in a different culture! Never. That's such a great experience, thanks for sharing that!! I know they are COMPLETELY IN LOVE with you. You're missed here
